FINISHED MORRISSEY

Well, I finally finished it and I'm rather pleased with the way it's turned out but there are one or two niggley little things I might go back to and change. Underneath, just for the hell of it, is the original sketch that I began with in Photoshop.

MORRISSEY

This is my second attempt at Morrissey as I was never really that happy with the first one I did last year.....how time flies.
This time I chose a more accurate reference photo and think it's made a huge difference.

THE BOSS

I've been trying to draw Bruce Springsteen for a while now and never managed to capture that amazing and apparently endless energy he has on stage. I think I've come pretty close with this one but I'll keep plugging away.....

Decided to expand on this one slightly but I've already reached that stage where I begin to become too attached to a sketch and am frightened of completing it!! Silly, I know, but I'm determined to persevere nonetheless......

BARACK OBAMA

Thought I'd give Obama another try......seeing as he's in the news and all.

RANDOM SKETCH

This is actually based on a reference photo of Alex Kapranos, the lead singer of the brilliant Franz Ferdinand. I wasn't really too concerned with the likeness and overall was pretty happy with it as a sketch.

JAMES DEAN

This started off as a pencil sketch but after some erasing, some more tweaking, and some more erasing, I decided to render it digitally in Photoshop. I really need to pick the 'ol pencil up again and do some proper sketches. Photoshop is all very well and good but sometimes you just can't beat the sketch pad and pencil (and an eraser just in case)

ST. BONO OF HEWSON

Although I don't idolise this man quite as much as I used to (i.e. when I was in my teens), I still have a lot of respect for him and I'm really looking forward to the new U2 album.
I know this ain't quite what you'd call a caricature but I just thought it would be interesting to see if I could capture some sort of likeness more than anything. He's a tricky one......

TOM WAITS SKETCH

Been playing quote a lot of this guy lately and forgot just how brilliant he is. 'Closing Time' is one of my all time favorite albums.
It inspired me to do this sketch in Photoshop.

LARRY KING

I started this a while before Christmas and guess I just plain forgot to post it!
Not sure why I picked Larry King as a subject and I definitely didn't plan for it to be so detailed but I liked the direction it was going and I just closed my eyes and went with it.
The bit about closing my eyes is a lie.

BLACKADDER PART II

Decided to give this one another crack. I think I've captured more of a likeness with this attempt.....

BLACKADDER RIDES AGAIN!!

To commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the sit-com Blackadder, the BBC screened a documemtary, looking back at the history of the show featuring interviews with members of the cast.
It reminded me just how special and side-splittingly funny this programme was and also how it will never, ever be bettered.
Here is a quick sketch of my all time favorite sit-com character (George Constanza is a close second!), Captain Edmund Blackadder from the fourth series 'Blackadder Goes Forth'.
All four series are absolute legendary works of genius, as are Rowan Atkinson's performances. Sadly, he went down in my estimation slightly when he went on to create the incredibly irritating Mr. Bean.
